The Crisis Intervention Plan (CIP) is a proactive response to addressing the immediate needs of Pentecostal Church of God (PCG) members and their families. Through crisis intervention, Chaplains, District Leaders, and Pastors will collaborate to assist PCG families to navigate their unique circumstances. We are blessed to have 15 volunteer Crisis Intervention Chaplains on standby to provide immediate pastoral care throughout 35 Districts. A critical element to crisis intervention will be the referrals of individuals in crises to additional resources that can meet their urgent needs that Crisis Intervention Chaplains are not equipped or licensed to address. The Crisis Intervention Plan will be disseminated to each District with the intent to ensure leaders are informed of the mission, protocol, and responsibilities. The implementation and management of the Crisis Intervention Plan will be a success only with the support of leaders. I am confident that the Crisis Intervention Plan will help many PCG families to persevere through difficult events. Having a chaplain beside those who are hurting will provide comfort during uncertain times.

The Pentecostal Church of God Crisis Intervention Plan
The Crisis Intervention Plan (CIP) is an initiative to provide pastoral care to members of the Pentecostal Church of God (PCG) and their families. The projected date of the CIP integration is June 2025. The effectiveness of the CIP will depend on the collective efforts of the Crisis Intervention Director (CID), Crisis Intervention Chaplains (CIC), District leaders, and PCG Pastors. Currently, there are fourteen (14) volunteer CICs who are assigned to thirty-five (35) districts. Each CIC will receive a letter of delegation and a copy of the PCG CIP, in which the CIC duties are detailed. Additionally, each CIC will receive quarterly training, either virtually or during the annual PCG Conference, or at the yearly mandatory Chaplains training. Similarly, quarterly training will be offered to District leaders and pastors.
Quarterly briefings will occur by the CICs to the CID. There is a standardized PowerPoint slide template for the briefings. Briefings will include crisis interventions conducted during the previous quarter, crisis intervention trends, organizations used for referrals, and constraints associated with providing intervention. The CID reports directly to the PCG Chaplain Endorser. The CICs report to the CID.
CICs will be dispatched by the CID, District leaders, or pastors to respond to a crisis intervention virtually or in person. Within four (4) hours of notification, the responding
CIC must contact the CID via email to report the response if the CID was not the person who assigned the intervention. Within twenty-four (24) hours after initiation of a crisis intervention, CICs must submit a PCG Crisis Intervention Contact Report (CICR) to the CID via email. Follow-up interventions will be reported on the same form, revised and resubmitted, again within twenty-four (24) hours of responding to each follow-up intervention. CICs are expected to refer members and their families to external, professional services outside of the CICs’ scope of practice. For example, CICs are not permitted to diagnose individuals for mental health conditions. CICs must assist individuals with connecting to resources for which the CIC is not certified or licensed to offer persons in crisis. The national phone numbers of organizations and additional resources are included in the CIP.
